Here’s an interesting post by Templified. It’s called Penelope, Simple Minimalist Blog and WooCommerce Template and it’s all about Minimalist, Portfolio, WooCommerce.
When I was a kid, I had no clue how to pronounce the name Penelope. I’d say PEN-uh-lope. What was I thinking though? I have no idea, it just didn’t dawn on my how you actually said the name. I was sheltered. Maybe dumb too. Whatever, I know how to pronounce it now. pen-UH-lope. Right?
Little of column A, little of column B, I’d say.
I’m much better now.
Anyway, Penelope isn’t just a name I used to struggle to pronounce, it’s a slick looking minimalist WordPress theme that I’m going to review today. Brand new in November of 2017, Penelope has a big, bold and flavorful look, it’s flat, but it’s really cool to look at. With large amounts of white space and big, daring images, it’s almost hard to call this theme ‘minimalist’ but I will anyway. Great for creatives, whether you’re building your own personal portfolio or you run a small company. Honestly, I doubt this works great for a large scale creative firm, but that’s okay. It doesn’t have to do *everything*.
Penelope is anything but minimalist in terms of features though.
This one offers up four blog layouts, four hero sliders, a really cool creative design and it’s simple to customize. With a clean, minimal design, fast support and a lot more. Kick the designer a couple extra bucks and they’ll even install and customize this theme for you. sweet deal, right? Did I mention that Penelope is WooCommerce ready too? No? Well, it is. That means you can set up a cool looking, simple and minimal online shop rapidly.
Based on the Underscores framework, Penelope is coded really well, which means it should do great in terms of the search engines. Full responsiveness means it displays perfectly on all sorts of devices too. Great for a portfolio and also great for a blog? Yeah, I’d say so.

So, that’s Penelope. What do you think, yea or nay? I like it. it’s not overly exciting, but it is well designed. I looked into the code a bit and I think it has a lot of potential to load fast, look good on all devices and for the right kind of blog, it could be a good fit. Maybe lifestyle blogs?
