Here’s an interesting post by Templified. It’s called Narrator, Clean and Professional WordPress Personal Blogging Theme and it’s all about Blog, Minimalist.
This theme is called Narrator and it’s a fun and fresh WordPress theme for personal and professional, lifestyle and travel blocks, among other things. Lifestyle blogs are more popular than ever, and more and more people are getting into the game. What is a lifestyle blog anyway? Well, it’s a Blog work all you do is right about the things that are happening to you and your ticket a life. It’s kind of like the Seinfeld of blogs, it’s about nothing! But, it’s actually about everything.
A lifestyle blog can be very general, focusing on one aspect of your life, such as parenting or fashion, perhaps travel or recipes. Occasionally, you’ll still probably add in some other content, which can help to keep things fresh. It’s a very wide open situation and you can do with it just about anything that you want. Then again, you can simply blog about everything that happens in your life. That way, it’s a bit easier to come up with topics to discuss and it can keep your audience more interested in what you have to offer.
So, how do you set up a lifestyle blog?
Well, there are a few basic steps that you need to engage in to get a great-looking personal or lifestyle blog established.
Step One, Choosing the Right Topic to Blog About
Choose something that really interests you. You certainly won’t want to blog about something that you’re going to get bored with, you should blog about the topics that you like to read about. That way, it will make it a lot easier for readers to engage with what you have to say. You may also want to Simply consider what it is that you are best at. If you’re a professional cook or perhaps I writer, maybe you want to blog about those things more often than things that you lack expertise in.
Step Two, Choosing the Proper Blogging Platform
Of course, I recommend WordPress. It’s free, it’s open source and there are tons of great WordPress themes out there to help you set up lifestyle blog that will be memorable and user-friendly. WordPress is ultimately customizable and there are plenty of free plug-ins that make the task of blocking a little bit simpler. It can still be difficult to crank out content, but if you got a solid platform like WordPress, the technical details are pretty much out of the way before you even get started. Honestly, I don’t really recommend free platforms like Wicks, they can add advertisements to your page without you even knowing about it. Plus, migrating your site to a new platform or a new design maybe next to Impossible.
That’s one great thing about WordPress, it allows you to change your mind down the road. Some other issues with free platforms, you’re not likely to get very much support and things like simple design changes can end up costing you a lot of money. So, there goes the free part of it. Also, if you use something like Blogspot or wordpress.com, you’re going to end up with an ugly URL. It’s better to have your own URL that is attractive and simple, memorable and that fits your branding efforts.
Step Three, Grab Yourself a Domain Name
Now, it’s time to pick out the right domain name. You could be your personal name, it could be something a little bit different. You know, I labored over what to call my own website, I finally settled on templified. I think that it’s a nice name, it’s brandable and simple, it’s related to my topic, WordPress themes of course, but it really doesn’t mean anything by itself. That way, it ended up being very cheap, I didn’t have to buy a premium domain name.
So, step 3 and step 4 sort of go together, I recommend that you also…
Step Four, Set Up Your Hosting Account
I think it’s usually a smart move to register your domain and get hosting from the same website. I recommend Bluehost, I find that their entry level hosting plans are cheap and fast compared to other hosting companies. If you do decide to step up to a more advanced hosting plan, they’re VPS plans are fairly reasonably priced and the performance is quite good. You get what you pay for it to a certain extent, so really good hosting costs quite a bit. Up until you get a few thousand clicks per day, you probably can get away with shared hosting. There are a few drawbacks with shared hosting, but in general you won’t run into problems if you are log is not drawing quite a bit of traffic. It’s a good problem to have, upgrading your Hosting account.
Step Five, Start Blogging!
Hey, thanks Captain Obvious, you mean to tell me that I need to blog to have a successful lifestyle blog? I never would have thought of that on my own. Haha, of course it’s obvious, but the next step is blogging your brains out. It’s going to take a lot of hard work to set up a Blog and make it successful, but it’s totally worth it.
